What is GJAN?
The investment objective of the FT Cboe Vest U.S. Equity Moderate Buffer ETF - January (the "Fund") is to seek to provide investors with returns (before fees and expenses) that match the price return of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (the "Underlying ETF"), up to a predetermined upside cap of 15.75% while providing a buffer (before fees and expenses) against the first 15% of Underlying ETF losses, over the period from January 23, 2023, through January 19, 2024. Under normal market conditions, the Fund will invest substantially all of its assets in FLexible EXchange Options ("FLEX Options") that reference the price performance of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (the "Underlying ETF"). The Fund uses FLEX Options to employ a "target outcome strategy." Target outcome strategies seek to produce pre-determined investment outcomes based upon the performance of an underlying security or index. The pre-determined outcomes sought by the Fund, which include a buffer (before fees and expenses) against the first 15% of Underlying ETF losses and a cap of 15.75% (before fees and expenses), are based on the price performance of the Underlying ETF over an approximate one-year period (the "Target Outcome Period").

What is ETF correlation?
Correlation is a measure of the strength of the relationship between two ETFs. It quantifies the degree to which prices of the two ETFs typically move together.
Here, correlation is measured over the past year with the Pearson correlation coefficient (Pearon’s r), which ranges from -1 to 1.
Using ETF correlations in portfolio and strategy construction
ETF correlations can help you create investing strategies and portfolios. Use them to:
- •Build a diversified portfolio from uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETFs with the aim of minimizing portfolio risk.
- •Compare correlated or related ETFs to find one with a lower expense ratio or higher trading volume.
- •Create an investing strategy that hedges an ETF with an uncorrelated or inversely correlated ETF.
